Kabbara Engineering was selected to prepare construction documents, special provisions and estimates for this project consisting of the rehabilitation and repair of 7 existing alleys within a County island located within the City of Orange limits. These alleys serve a steep, hillside area of single and multi-family residences. Project included preparation and presentation of preliminary plans and exhibits to the community at a public outreach meeting. Pavement recommendations were provided by the County Materials Lab for this project, which included a combination of 2″ grind and asphalt concrete overlay of 2 alleys and full reconstruction with either a 4″ over native, or a composite 0.35′ asphalt concrete over 0.5′ aggregate base section for the other 5 alleys. Kabbara Engineering also prepared the Water Quality Management Plan, including all calculations and exhibits for the project. Project also included utility coordination and encroachment permit coordination with the City of Orange, and preparation of a Field Observation Report, with preliminary design options and cost estimates, as required by the County to address a drainage issue related to an existing slope and public street adjacent to the Seeley Residence. Project was expedited to take full advantage of available Prop C funding.
